Winter Park Carlisle Buyout

Winter Park residents have been divided on the issue of the Carlisle Progect, which is a condo & retail project, which was previous approved by the City to be located where the current post office exists. Many residents do not want the development, after years of resistence, because of the height and potential traffic brought to down town Winter Park. The Mayor recently proposed to buyout the developer for $5.3 million, but the Mayor would need to raise the funds. The city commissioners voted no buyout as it puts the city at too much risk to raise the money. It looks like a litigation is the next step.
