What are the closet beaches to Orlando?
Just because Orlando is located in very center of Florida does not mean it is far from the beach. In Central Florida you are no more than 30-60 minutes from Florida's East Coast Beaches. You will experience incredible sunrises, and ocean waves great for surfing on the east coast. The two main beach areas are Brevard and Volusia County.
Brevard County
Cocoa Beach: Cocoa Beach the most accessible from Orlando. Once you are on the Beachline Expressway or State Road 528 you head directly into Port Canaveral with all the cruise ships then onto A1A for the beach. Cocoa has alot offer the Pier for fishing, and basking in the sun and ocean to your heart's content.
Cape Canaveral Beach: If you are looking for All Natural Beach, look no further. No high rises, nothing but blue skies and sand dunes. Cape Canaveral is home to NASA Space Center. You can tour the museum or drive through Natural Habitat reserve there too.
New Smyrna Beach: This beach is wide, with hard packed sand so you can ride your bike up and down the beach. Because the beach is wide you have alot more elbow room. You can drive on the northern sections of the beach, surf, or bring your dog to Ponce Inlet. New Smyrna beach has been known to be the shark capital, but I have only seen dolphins in the water.

Daytona Beach: One of the world's well known beaches for its Spring Break legacy, Bike Week, and NASCAR racing. Daytona also offers driving on the beach in designate areas, with high rise condos, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment for all to enjoy.
