Winter Park Voters Say Yes Commuter Rail

Winter Park a political city voted in favor of the commuter rail station in Winter Park yesterday. Although newly elected city commissioners have opposite opinions on where it should be located. The 61 mile commuter rail expected to stretch from Volusia county to Poinciana will be partly subsidized with federal funds, which surrouding counties and cities will have to contribute. There is controversy where to put the rail station where downtown Winter Park, which some residents are in favor of close proximity to Park Avenue while others think it will be increased traffic, and would like it moved in less congested area of Winter Park. Winter Park is expected to receive $3 million in federal funds and will need match a portion of that. The main part of the rail will be done 2009.
